On October 29th, Thursday was a profitable day. It was an opportunity to test ourselves how would manage an English class with children.
First of all, we thought children would not follow what we were telling them but they got what we were doing, at least by our body language. The kinesthetic, the gesticulation, and the imitation in early ages are powerful tools to “catch” the attention of the boys and girls. Maybe it is not necessary they understand every word we say, the point is children get use to listen English and educate their hearing. The most valuable knowledge we have learned from this performance has been the way we need to talk to the children, the structures, and the tense verbs. To be straighter in what we want to tell or ask them is the key. We would not change anything about our performance because our mistakes help us to do it better with the followings children groups. The flexibility and the adaptation is very important if we want to become a good teacher and it is only possible to get in real teaching. For that reason we think: “one mistake helps you to improve”. During our first presentation we highlight was not control the group when did the post-telling game. The second and third group did not pay attention what we were saying but we change some issues and we improve the activity. Another good thing of this performance has been to repeat several times the same activity because we realised what mistakes were making and It let us correct them. And at the end we can improvise and play with children.Summarising, it was an excellent way to learn how we put our knowledges about pedagogical strategies in front of the children. In fact we believe it’s the unique way to become a teacher. It was a fantastic experience that we won’t forget it.
